Oct. 29, 2009

From sports to dance to visual arts, Phoenix residents on Nov. 14 can choose from among hundreds of special interest classes and sports programs for the Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department’s winter session, which runs from December through February.

Classes feature experienced instructors, affordable prices and convenient times and locations. The department’s dozens of youth classes and sports programs allow thousands of kids each year to get active, develop new skills and have fun.

Beginning Oct. 30, participants will be able to preview the full winter class and program schedule online in the Classes and Programs section of the department Web site at phoenix.gov/parks. Individual community centers also will have printed class schedules available at their facilities. Registration for the winter session begins at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 14 at both online and in-person at city community and recreation centers.

In addition to dozens of general interest classes and sports programs, park rangers also are offering a full schedule of interpretive and fitness-based outdoor programs in the city’s desert preserves.

Additional information on the programs, parks and facilities of the Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department is available online at phoenix.gov/parks or by phone at 602-262-6862.
