Health Workshop on End-of-Life Medical Decisions

“Health for a Lifetime,” a series of free workshops presented by the city of Phoenix Human Services Department Senior Services Division and St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, will present health information for older adults and the community.

The next workshop, “Finding Your Way: A Guide for End-of-Life Medical Decisions,” will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at Devonshire Senior Center, 2802 E. Devonshire Ave.

Bonnie McCulley, manager of Spiritual and Palliative Care Services, St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, will discuss how to begin advance care planning and the value and limits of living wills and medical durable power of attorney. Attendees will learn how to address the complex issues faced by the patient and family and why it is important to plan now rather than wait until later. Also discussed will be what to expect from your doctor and other health professionals.

Future monthly workshops will include information about nutrition, cardiac care and the latest cancer treatments. The workshops are free and open to the public and support the mission of the Healthier Phoenix Initiative. For more information, call 602-262-7807.
