Councilman Mattox and the Screamin’ Javelinas will Rock the Rail
Councilman Claude Mattox’s band, the Screamin’ Javelinas, is scheduled to take part in METRO light rail’s grand opening festivities from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27.
The band will entertain residents and light-rail riders alike with classic rock songs at the Montebello/19th Avenue station, near the Christown Spectrum Mall.
“This is a huge day for Phoenix and I’m honored to be a part of the celebration. This grand opening event combines my two passions – public service and music,” said Mattox. "I encourage everyone to ride the rail for free and rock out with my band and other entertainment along the route.”
Light-rail passengers ride the system free through the end of the year. For more information on the grand opening festivities and the new light rail line, visit metrolightrail.org.
