Today the Phoenix City Council elected District 7 Councilman Michael Nowakowski as vice mayor. He will serve in the position until the end of the year.
"This will be one of the most challenging years in our city’s history. I’m thankful for the support of the Council and I look forward to working closely with my colleagues and city staff to help find solutions," said Nowakowski.

He also was co-chairman of the Phoenix Historic Bond Committee, a founding member of the Mayor's Anti-Graffiti Task Force and served on the Police Chief's Advisory Board.
In addition to his post on the City Council, Nowakowski is the executive vice president of the Communications Fund for the National Farm Workers Service Center.
